Science

Faraday is pleased to offer a dedicated STEM/technology lab, creative maker space, outdoor nature space, and interactive learning spaces throughout the school to engage and inspire in scientific learning!  Our annual science expo and core and enrichment science classes promote scientific inquiry and wonder of discovery for all students.

Social Studies

Our designated social studies classroom, filled with historical antiquities, takes students on an immersive, tactile experience throughout history, exploring people, places, cultures, and God’s hand throughout history.  Our classes are interactive and project-based, utilizing literature and leadership studies to observe and analyze the past in order to prepare for the future.

Math

Our math courses take an incremental approach, introducing concepts in attainable chunks and spiraling back with consistent review.  We value hands-on instruction, conceptual understanding, linking concepts to real-world problems, and opportunities to think critically and use math creatively.

Language Arts

We are committed to developing strong communication skills, both written and oral, with high standards and engaging creativity.  We offer multi-sensory phonics instruction, a variety of themed writing courses, and systematic spelling and grammar instruction.  Literature and living books are emphasized throughout all areas of study, with a campus library and reading nooks throughout campus.

Enrichments

Robotics Lab

Mondays at 2pm
Level up your lego enthusiasts! Students will animate lego creations to become robotic using sensors. Their projects will move, light up, and make sound. Problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration are skills the students will enhance as they work together to build and code weekly projects. Mid September, we will discuss forming a competition team for students and parents interested in competing at First Lego League Challenge competition. This group will be building and coding a vehicle to complete tasks, design a presentation board and model to solve a problem, research topics in archeology, present through Microsoft Teams, and finally compete at a local event!

Experimental Science

Tuesdays at 2pm
Experimental Science moves beyond textbook theories and places students in the role of the lead investigator. This course is designed to spark curiosity about the natural laws of physics, chemistry, and biology. Each session typically involves a "What if?" scenario where students form hypotheses and conduct controlled experiments to find the answer. Whether they are studying the exothermic reactions of chemical compounds or the principles of fluid dynamics through DIY rockets, the focus is on the scientific method and learning how to document and analyze results like real scientists.

Interactive Campus

Faraday students move around campus throughout the day, taking advantage of our STEM lab, maker space, library, outdoor classrooms, and interactive learning classrooms. This approach keeps our students engaged and allows teachers to maximize teaching tools that all grades can benefit from.

Technology Stewardship

At Faraday STEM Academy, we prioritize hands-on learning as the foundation for our students' educational journey. While we're a STEM school, we believe in a balance between technology and tactile experiences. We consider ourselves a low tech school since we limit the time on technology to a minimum to accomplish our goals to equip well rounded students.
